The Missionary Family Donum Dei was founded by a French priest, Fr. Marcel Roussel-Galle, who was born in 1910 in a little village in the Franche-Comté region and who died in Rome on 22 February 1984.
Having been ordained at Besançon in 1934, Fr. Roussel became intensely preoccupied with the issues facing the Church at that time. Cardinal Suhard had stirred the Church in France to become conscious of the profound de-christianisation of the country. Fr. Roussel was deeply distressed when Fr. Godin published his book, “France, A Mission Country”.
For Fr. Roussel, Thérèse is second only to the Blessed Virgin as his confidante, his constant friend. It was with Thérèse that he would build a spiritual Family. It was also with her that he would discover the burning thirst of God : to pour his love into the hearts of all people.
Fr. Roussel also understood that his mission was greater than him and that ultimately his mission was to found a Spiritual Family which, following Thérèse, would live the offering to Merciful Love in the world and would be its apostle.
As Parish Priest in the little village of Doubs from 1942 to 1947, he wrote : “the pagan masses attract me : I would love to evangelise them through young women who have given themselves and consecrated themselves totally to God …”
Fr. Roussel went to Paris in 1947 and very quickly he succeeded in bringing together a number of young women who were attracted by the ideal that he proposed. On the 11th February 1950 he gathered them together and gave them the name “Missionary Workers of the Immaculate”.
What was their vocation ? Like Thérèse, their vocation consisted in offering to Jesus their virginity, their entire love and to offer themselves to his Merciful Love.
What was their mission ? To help others to rediscover Christ as he showed himself to the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s Well, and to reveal to the whole of humanity Jesus as God’s gift.
The first people to whom the Missionary Workers carried their faith in the Merciful Love of Christ were the prostitutes in the Pigalle district of Paris. They also ministered to the workers in the large factories on the outskirts of Paris, to secondary school students, to the sick in hospital and to other workers in various different types of work.
As the years went by, the Family grew : the number of foundations increased and vocations came from different parts. After their time of formation in France and Rome, the Missionary Workers offered themselves to Jesus as spouses through the same offering to Merciful Love as that made by the little Thérèse.
Their communities are always international in order to show that Merciful Love wants to unite people of all races in one family.
They live their vocation in many different ways : as individuals working in the work place ; the Eau Vive restaurant chain ; centres for prayer ; apostolates to prisoners, poor areas and hospitals, as well as catechetical and chaplaincy services in colleges, etc.
In 1981, some mothers approached the Missionary Workers requesting that they be given spiritual help in order to strengthen their life as spouses and mothers. Faced with the world-wide crisis that was undermining the human family, Fr. Roussel felt called to found a movement of mothers to be apostles in their own homes and in the homes of others. These mothers, called Missionary Mothers, became organised and the formation meetings brought them into contact with the way of Thérèse. They too, with their husbands, offered themselves to Merciful Love.
In 1984, Fr. Roussel found that his Spiritual Family had different faces : Missionary Workers, mothers, families, and young people. Despite different ways of living, the same spirit of love was in their hearts. Father Roussel decided that all the members should be grouped together into one spiritual family to be called the Donum Dei Missionary Family. “If only you knew the gift God is offering you”. He understood that this Family could not remain faithful to its mission to live the message of little Thérèse in the world if it was not – like Thérèse – rooted in the Carmelite Order. Shortly before his death on the 22nd February 1984, Fr. Roussel entrusted the Donum Dei Missionary Family to the Carmelite Order so that it would be incorporated into the International Tertiary Secular Order.
This was finally realised on the 22nd February 1987. At this moment, there are about 30 groups of the Donum Dei Family spread across the five continents.
The Missionary Family is present in Lisieux since November 1995 at the invitation of the Diocese. Its mission is to maintain the Louis and Zélie Martin Foyer – 15 Avenue Sainte Thérèse – as a centre of prayer and accommodation at the service of the pilgrim to Lisieux. The Missionary Workers of the Immaculate also participate in the liturgical life of the Saint Thérèse Pilgrimage by leading the singing at Mass and by organising prayer liturgies at the request of groups coming to Lisieux.
The Donum Dei Missionary Family is also present at Lisieux through its members who often gather with the Missionary Workers of the Immaculate for days of spiritual reflection and family sharing.

A Congregação das Irmãs Missionárias Carmelitas foi fundada em 25 de março de 1938, na Basílica do Carmo, na cidade de Recife-PE, por Frei José Maria Casanova Magret, natural da Espanha e estando no Brasil desde 1915 com este espírito altamente otimista e empreendedor, restaurou a Província de Pernambuco. Logo após, viajaram para Princesa Isabel-PB, berço da Congregação. Inspirado na vivência do carisma da Ordem do Carmo e movido pela carência do povo de sua época. Recebeu apoio direto de Dom João da Mata do Amaral, bispo diocesano de Cajazeiras, encontrou em Afra de Sá Ferraz (Madre Carmelita) a grande colaboradora no desenvolvimento da Congregação nascente. A segunda casa fundada foi o Carmelo em Cajazeiras PB e, com o passar do tempo, nossa presença foi crescendo na Paraíba e em outros estados como, por exemplo: Sergipe, Alagoas, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco, Rondônia, Pará e Ceará (uma casa Intercarmelitana). Também já marcamos presença na Colômbia numa experiência de três anos. Cada lugar com suas necessidades: na pastoral, na educação, no meio social e saúde.
A Congregação das Irmãs Missionárias Carmelitas foi reconhecida como Congregação religiosa de Direito Diocesano por Zacarias Rolim de Moura, bispo de Cajazeiras, em 08 de outubro de 1960, agregada à Ordem do Carmo pelo Decreto do Prior dos Irmãos da Bem Aventurada Virgem Maria do Monte Carmelo em 29 de agosto 1949 e recebeu a aprovação da Santa Sé em 10 de agosto de 1960.
A missão assumida pelas Irmãs Missionárias Carmelitas, traduzida nos dias atuais, é: Viver em Fraternidade Orante e estar disponível para a missão, no meio dos pobres e excluídos da sociedade. A Congregação sempre recebeu apoio da Ordem do Carmo e somos felizes de fazermos parte desta Família preciosa que tem uma espiritualidade tão rica.

Uma Congregação brasileira, nascida no Rio de Janeiro, em 02 de dezembro de 1899 pelo SIM da jovem viúva Rita de Cássia Aguiar (Madre Maria das Neves), que acreditou no chamado de Deus para que entregasse sua vida a serviço dos irmãos e irmãs empobrecidos, inicialmente na pequena cidade de Saquarema-RJ.
A Congregação cresceu e se expandiu em Minas Gerais desde o ano de 1912, quando um pequeno grupo saiu de Campos,RJ, para Cataguases,MG.
Hoje somos presença missionária em oito Estados do Brasil. Desde 1996 estamos no vicariato Apostólico de Puyo-região amazônica do Equador e há 08 anos na periferia de Buenos Aires, na Argentina.

- Inseridas nos meios populares, procurando servir preferencialmente os empobrecidos;
- cuidando dos doentes e idosos;
- educando crianças, adolescentes e jovens;
- Anunciando a Boa Nova da Libertação, conforme o Projeto de Jesus Cristo.

We are a religious family, officially called, Sisters of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, better known by the lift area as "Carmelites of Orihuela" since a few years after our founding (1891) in Caudete (Albacete, Spain) spent in this city (1899) south of the province of Alicante.
We are born from the trunk of the Carmelite Order, who in 1888 returns to the convent of S. Joseph Caudete to restart the restore it after the secularization that as many religious orders were established in Spain.
Our congregation, added to the Order of Friars of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel, where he is trying to live beyond the core values of the Carmelite charism is prayer, fraternity and prophetic service, from a deep contemplative dimension. Also participate in a spirituality and Marian Aelian (inspired by the prophet Elijah and Mary, the mother of God) and profess as the Carmelite Rule (the "rule of life" that Albert of Jerusalem gave the first hermits on Mount Carmel in Earth Santa) and our constitutions (Cf.Const. Article 34 and 82).
Although in the beginning of the congregation were eight sisters that started this new family in Carmel and in the Church from the beginning the group said Sister. Elisea Oliver Molina, who was appointed the first Master of Novices in 1892 and then Superior General for the years 1899 to 1922 and from 1928 until his death in Orihuela in 1931. For your mood and personality to go configuring the appearance of the new religious family regard it as Founder and spiritual teacher.
Our mission as a Carmelite is "to seek and live the present, living and true God and help people to discover and enter into relationship with Him" (cf. Const. Art. 4). This mission is conducted from the witness of our lives in the activities entrusted to us related to the training of children, youth and adults and assisting the sick and elderly, taking in preference to the poor (cf. Const. Art 5).

The Congregation of Carmelite Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, was founded by the Servant of God Assumption Soler Gimeno, the May 13, 1924.
Our spirituality is developed in the tradition eliana-Marian projecting contemplation and apostolic life in the spirit of the Carmelite Rule.

Like Mary, we strive to be the presence of the church through contemplative communities - prophetic pray, proclaim salvation through hope, love, live with joy, denounce sin with courage and served with simplicity and availability.
We take the great challenge that Assumption Mother left us to live for God, seek His glory above all, make the love of Christ that his face is visible to a world that is thirsty for God.

La Congregación de Hermanas Carmelitas de Madre Candelaria nace al sur de la Cordillera de la Costa, en la ciudad de Altagracia de Orituco, Estado Guárico, en el año de 1903, para dar respuesta a las múltiples necesidades de la sufrida Venezuela agraria, desasistida de los centros de poder; abandonada a su suerte y donde todo era precario: servicios, comunicaciones, comercio, etc.
A esto se une la Guerra Libertadora (lucha interna entre caudillos por el poder) que va dejando un sin número de enfermos y heridos.
Ante esta situación Dios suscita en el corazón de Susana Paz Castillo, joven gracitana de profundos valores cristianos se siente interpelada por esta situación y comienza a prestar sus servicios de asistencia a estos pobres abandonados. Animada por el Padre Sixto Sosa, joven entusiasta quien era párroco de esa localidad, inicia una nueva etapa en la historia de Altagracia de Orituco y se gestan los comienzos de una Congregación Venezolana.
El Pbro. Sixto inicia un trabajo solidario de acción social. Se crea una Junta, de la cual forman parte algunos médicos de la localidad, el Padre Sixto Sosa y otros colaboradores.
Surgió la idea de crear un hospital y como responsable de dicha obra queda Susana Paz Castillo. A ella se unieron otras jóvenes Mercedes Malaver Acosta, Natividad Pérez Medina y su hermana Marcelina, que más tarde se incorporaran a la naciente Congregación.
Con la inauguración de este hospital "San Antonio", nace definitivamente la Congregación, que con la valentía y coraje emprendían una obra para la Gloria de Dios y el Bien de nuestro pueblo Venezolano.
Años más tarde, ante la incertidumbre existente por parte del obispo de Calabozo de que la Congregación pudiese funcionar como Instituo Religioso con su debida aprobación canónica, se gestionó la Agregación a la Orden del Carmen.
En el año 1922, llegan a la Isla de Margarita los Padres Carmelitas provenientes de Puerto Rico, y éstos por petición de la Madre Candelaria, se interesan en la formación y animación de las Hermanas; hecho este que fortalece el deseo de las Hermanas de ser Carmelitas. El Padre Elías Sendra inicia las comunicaciones de solicitud con el Padre General de la Orden del Carmen y éste concede el decreto de agregación el 25 de Marzo de 1925, la Madre Candelaria llega a exclamar:
"Ya marchamos bajo la santa librea del Carmelo"

The Missionary Family Donum Dei was founded by a French priest, Fr. Marcel Roussel-Galle, who was born in 1910 in a little village in the Franche-Comté region and who died in Rome on 22 February 1984.
What was their vocation ? Like Thérèse, their vocation consisted in offering to Jesus their virginity, their entire love and to offer themselves to his Merciful Love.
What was their mission ? To help others to rediscover Christ as he showed himself to the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s Well, and to reveal to the whole of humanity Jesus as God’s gift.

We are consecrated religious in the Catholic Church and members of a Congregation founded by Mother M. Angeline Teresa McCrory, O.Carm , Servant of God, dedicated to the service and care of the Aged and Infirm, in the spirit and tradition of the Carmelite Order.
We are women who share a vision that love makes a difference in the world. We are diverse in age, background and training but are united in our belief that life is precious, from the moment of conception to its natural end. Life is full of memories pieced together to form God's handwoven tapestry. Our story is tied to the story of every man and woman at the autumn of life - their joys and sorrows, their pains and consolations, their love of family, their hopes and dreams, their search for God and their finding Him. Our life is about holding the hand of an aged person and giving meaning to their lives. It is about being a mother, a sister, a daughter and a friend to someone who is another's mother, sister, friend and loved one.
We are Carmelites who follow the Rule of Saint Albert and are nourished by the tradition and examples of Saint Elias, Mary, St. Teresa, St. Therese and many holy men and women of the Carmelite Order. We follow the example and vision of our foundress, Mother Angeline Teresa McCrory, O.Carm., Servant of God. We minister to Christ in the person of the elderly but always return to the spiritual mount of our prayer and contemplation.

Carmelitae Sancti Eliae is a basically an open contemplative Congregation, with some ministriesor apostolate. Much time is spent for prayers. Our houses are usually in remote places with facilities for retreats. We organise about 20 retreats a year, with different themes, but mostly designed to help people in their journey to God. These retreats are led by the brothers and sisters. Besides of that the brothers also help the people in counseling and spiritual direction and also pray for them and with them. They also do evangelistic outreaches to different places all over the countries and even to some countries as well. Besides animated with the Carmelite spirituality, the brothers are also open to the new gifts of the Holy Spirit, as they are poured into the Church today.
