Restoration of liturgical volumes in the General Carmelite Library
Since last year, thanks to contributions from the Italian Episcopal Conference's 8xMille fund for ecclesiastical archives and libraries, our Library has been able to commission an important restoration project for the volumes belonging to the liturgical collection it preserves.
Restorer Alessandro De Cupis has restored four of the approximately thirty liturgical volumes, including antiphonaries, chorales, and graduals, dating from the 16th to the 18th centuries, to their former beauty. These volumes are characterized by their large size, the presence of precious miniatures, and the fact that they are entirely handwritten, thus making them of great historical and cultural value to our book heritage.
Alessandro De Cupis is currently continuing the restoration of seven other volumes, and we hope that he will be able to continue in the future, completing the entire collection, so as to encourage the study and appreciation of these important examples by experts in the field.
