Final Message of the Generale Chapter MMXIII of The Brothers of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel

0. We, Carmelite Friars, gathered in General Chapter at Il Carmelo, Sassone, Italy (3-20 September 2013) from all over the world, greet our brothers and sisters of the Carmelite Family: grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

1. We believe that God’s creative love revealed definitively in the Incarnate Word, Jesus Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit calls us to continual transformation.

19th March 2010 Solemnity of St. Joseph

Introduction

Carmel, with all its many groups and branches, is to be found nowadays in all five continents. It lives among many cultures and in many social contexts. Along with the more conventional ministries (parishes, schools, houses of spirituality), quite a number of Carmelites are involved in the work of peace and justice,

Letter of the Prior General on the General Congregation 2011

Rome  March 25, 2012
Prot. 63/2012

Dear Brothers,

From the 5th to the 16th of September last year, the General Congregation of our Order took place in the Mount Carmel Centre (our house at Niagara Falls in Canada) as  the most important meeting that takes place between one General Chapter and the next (See, Art.285 of our Constitutions). As you know, the main theme of our reflections was the identity of our Order in the present context of the Church.

APOSTOLIC LETTER OF HIS HOLINESS POPE JOHN PAUL II DIVINI AMORIS SCIENTIA

SAINT THÉRÈSE OF THE CHILD JESUS AND THE HOLY FACE
IS PROCLAIMED A DOCTOR OF THE UNIVERSAL CHURCH

1. THE SCIENCE OF DIVINE LOVE, which the Father of mercies pours out through Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit, is a gift granted to the little and the humble so that they may know and proclaim the secrets of the kingdom, hidden from the learned and the wise; for this reason Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, praising the Father who graciously willed it so (cf. Lk 10:21-22; Mt 11:25-26).

As Carmelites We live our life of allegiance to Jesus Christ and to serve Him faithfully with a pure heart and a clear conscience through a commitment to seek the face of the living God (the contemplative dimension of life), through prayer, through fraternity, and through service (diakonia). These three fundamental elements of the charism are not distinct and unrelated values, but closely interwoven.

All of these we live under the protection, inspiration and guidance of Mary, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, whom we honor as "our Mother and sister."
