Fr. Roberto Hasudungan Sianturi, O.Carm.


Father Roberto Hasudungan Sianturi was born in Pekanbaru, Indonesia, on February 17, 1984.   At the end of his novitiate, he made his simple profession on July 17, 2005 and the solemn profession, on July 20, 2011.  After finishing his Philosophical and theological studies in Indonesia, he was ordained on October 27, 2012.   Immediately after his ordination, he worked as a parochial vicar in a rural parish in northern Sumatra.  During 2014 and 2015 he was appointed the formation director for the Postulants in Sidikalang, also in northern Sumatra.

From 2017 to 2019 he studied spiritual theology at the Teresianum Institute of Spirituality.  After receiving a licentiate degree, for a brief time he worked as a director at the Marian Center of Indonesia.  In December 2019, he was appointed Secretary General of the Order.


As Carmelites We live our life of allegiance to Jesus Christ and to serve Him faithfully with a pure heart and a clear conscience through a commitment to seek the face of the living God (the contemplative dimension of life), through prayer, through fraternity, and through service (diakonia). These three fundamental elements of the charism are not distinct and unrelated values, but closely interwoven. 

All of these we live under the protection, inspiration and guidance of Mary, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, whom we honor as "our Mother and sister."
