Accompanied by the General Councillor for Africa, Fr. Désiré Unen Alimange, the Prior General recently conducted a canonical visitation of the Provincial Commissariat of the Democratic Republic of Congo. During the visit apart from interviews with all the religious in their various houses, he also met with the bishops of Kinshasa, Bunia and Butmebo, the main dioceses where Carmelites are present. The Prior General also held meetings with the students, novices and postulants, as well as with lay Carmelite groups. He visited the new hospital which Carmelites are building in the town of Bunia and was able to see for himself the great social work that our brothers have accomplished.
Immediately following this visit, the Prior General conducted a canonical visit of the Arago-Valentina province in Spain, assisted by Fr. John Keating the General Councillor for Europe. They held meetings with the various communities of religious of the province and with the provincial council in Madrid. The Prior General and Fr. John also made a visitation of the nuns' monasteries within the Arago province, Zaragoza, Valencia, Onteniente and Caudete, having already conducted a visitation of the two monasteries in Huesca last Christmas.
