Activities of the Prior General

The Prior General, Fr. Fernando Millán Romeral, O.Carm., accompanied by Fr. John Keating, O.Carm., Councillor General for Europe, carried out the canonical visitation of the Betica Province, Spain, from the 28th September to the 9th October. On the 1st October he participated in the inauguration of the "Titus Brandsma Memorial" in Nijmegen, the Netherlands (Citoc 87/2010).


Together with the General Councillor for America, Fr. Raúl Maraví, O.Carm., from the 18th to 26th October he undertook the canonical visitation of the two Commissariats of Venezuela (Betica and Catalonia). And from 28th to 30th, in the same month, visited the foundation in Trinidad. He also participated in FOCAL (the meeting of Carmelite formators of Latin America), which took place in Camoçim de São Felix (Pernambuco, Brazil) (Citoc 74/2010).


On the 15th November he took part in the official opening of the new "Casa San Nuno" in Fatima (Citoc 102/2010) and on the 21st of November he celebrated the day Pro Orantibus in the Monastery of Santa Maria Maddalena de' Pazzi in Florence (Citoc 106/2010). From 24th to 26th of November he was present at the 76th Assembly of the USG (Union of Superiors General) held in Rome and concluded with a meeting with His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI in the Clementine Hall of the Vatican. In his address, the Pope expressed his gratitude to the consecrated religious for their service to the universal Church.


On the same day, that is the 26th November, he gave two interviews for different programmes on Vatican Radio. During the interviews, besides items relating to the Order, he spoke about the Assembly of the USG and also the 25th anniversary of the Beatification of Fr. Titus Brandsma.
