On 10th January, the Carmelite School at Terenure, Dublin, celebrated its 150th Anniversary. The event has been marked by a series of events throughout 2009-2010. Although somewhat hindered by the heavy snow and bitterly cold weather, the day itself was marked by a nationally televised Eucharistic Celebration and short programme on this educational project of the Irish Carmelites. The Elective Chapter of the Carmelite Monastery of Cañete la Real, Spain, was held 11 January 2010. The following were elected:
Change in the date of the beatification of Venerable Angelo Paoli
The Secretary of State has informed us of the date of the upcoming beatification of Venerable Angelo Paoli (1642-1720). The ceremony will take place in Rome at the basilica of St. John Lateran on 25th April 2010 (rather than 18th April as was previously announced).

The Elective Chapter of the Carmelite Monastery of Tarlac, Philippines, was held 14 December 2009. The following were elected:
  • Prioress:  Sr. M. Teresa Margarita Medina, O.Carm.
  • 1st Councilor: Sr. M. Victoria San Diego, O.Carm.
  • 2nd Councilor: Sr. Arlene Marie Reporte, O.Carm.
  • Director of Novices:  Sr. M. Teresa Margarita Medina, O.Carm.
  • Treasurer: Sr. Arlene Marie Reporte, O.Carm.
  • Sacristan: Sr. M. Victoria San Diego, O.Carm.
Interview and Greetings for the New Year on Vatican Radio
In a brief interview produced by Vatican Radio for Latin America in Spanish, the Prior General, Fernando Millán Romeral, O. Carm., sent a message of greetings for the year 2010 to all of the Carmelite family and explained some of the projects and chief events in Carmel for the year. As Carmelites We live our life of allegiance to Jesus Christ and to serve Him faithfully with a pure heart and a clear conscience through a commitment to seek the face of the living God (the contemplative dimension of life), through prayer, through fraternity, and through service (diakonia). These three fundamental elements of the charism are not distinct and unrelated values, but closely interwoven. 

All of these we live under the protection, inspiration and guidance of Mary, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, whom we honor as "our Mother and sister."
