www.carmelnet.org Fr. Ernest Larkin is an American Carmelite theologian and teacher who recently visited Australia on a lecture tour sponsored by the Australian Carmelites. He gave the keynote address at the first Australian Catholic Charismatic Conference in Melbourne on 1 June 1974; this article is the text of that address. “I give thanks to God always for you because of the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus, that in every way you were enriched in him with all speech and knowledge . . . so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift ...” (1 Cor 1:4-7). These words were first addressed by Paul to his charismatic converts at Corinth; they are also addressed to us. They are the reason for this First National Australian Catholic Charismatic Conference.
